虛擬語氣是中學英語語法中非常重要的一塊。如果不懂虛擬語氣，很多英語句子無法理解。if是虛擬語氣中的重要角色，但是它可以省略。這讓很多同學迷糊，今天我來跟大家詳細分析一下它的省略用法。
if的省略有三種情況：had、were和should。
首先，在虛擬語氣里面如果表達對過去發生的事情的虛擬，會用到had，我們就可以省略if，把had提前。Had you arrived ten minutes earlier, you could have seen that super star.如果你能早到十分鐘的話，你就可以看到那個超級巨星了。這個句子是對過去的事情進行虛擬。它就是省略了if，提前了had。它的完整格式是：If you had arrived ten minutes earlier , you could have seen that super star.
其次，were也可以有這樣的用法，但是were是針對現在的時態進行虛擬的時候使用的。Were I you, Iwould take that offer and enter that university. 如果我是你的話，我就會接受邀請，進入那個大學。它的完整格式是：If I were you, I would take that offer and enter that university.
第三，should是針對將來的事情虛擬的時候使用的。同樣是省略if，把疑問詞should提前。Should you join in the team tomorrow, the team would certaily win the game.其完整格式是If you should join in the team tomorrow, the team would certaily win the game.
可以看出，這個三個單詞分別針對三個不同的時態。had是針對過去虛擬的時候用的，were是對現在的事情虛擬的時候用的，should是對將來的事情虛擬的時候用的。用法都是去掉if，把疑問詞提前。
